Use exploringfaith.life

ExploringFaith.life is designed for a Christian and a friend who is exploring faith to have spiritual conversations together in five stages modeled after the Five Thresholds. This will be particularly helpful and strategic for JNSO as a way for your students to take next steps in being faithful witnesses on campus. The website can be used 1) in person together, or 2) discussed over text, messenger, or some other digital medium.

For optimum use of the website, do the following 3 things:

Get Familiar. Look through the website (read through the content of each step)

Think about your answers to the questions in Threshold 1 (Trust) and Threshold 2 (Curiosity), as the conversation will be strongest when the you are transparent, authentic, and vulnerable in your own sharing with your non-Christian friend. Avoid Christianese.

Practice with a safe friend. Practice inviting a friend to try out the website with you. Think of a safe non-Christian friend. Write out an invitation, or copy and paste one of the invitations below. Send it over email, text, or messenger, or ask in person.

Hey! I just came back from a conference. I discovered a cool website called exploringfaith.life. It helps curious friends and Christians have honest conversations about faith and Jesus. I like the questions and think this could be a good way to continue some of the conversation we last had about spirituality. Want to take a look and try it out with me?

Or:

Check out this website called exploringfaith.life. It helps friends, Christian and those who aren’t, have intentional conversations about faith and Jesus together via conversation prompts. I care about you and faith is important to me, but I’ve never had a chance to talk about it with you. Would you be open to taking a look and trying it out with me?

Alternative: post on social media with an open invite:

Friends: Check out this website called exploringfaith.life. It helps friends, Christian and those who aren’t, have intentional conversations about faith and Jesus together via conversation prompts. Faith is important to me, but I haven’t had much of a chance to talk about it with many of you. Would any of you be open to taking a look and trying it out with me?

If they say yes, ask where they think they might be in the five stages. Try out the discussion questions for the explorer and friend in that stage. Ask if they want to do this in person or start out over text/messenger/whatever app you are using? [Proceed over text/messenger, or set up a time to meet up].

If they say no, thank them for considering it.
